Politics in Austria are very difficult to understand for me so I'm not going to go into to much depth into the politics but there is an observation that I would like to make from our time there. I'm not positive, but I don't think that REM wrote their song about Austria, but it is fitting for their current situation. The dominant religion in Austria is Roman Catholicism and it has been for years. In 1951 89% of Austrians claimed Catholicism as their religion and in 1981 as many as 84% were Catholic.
